WORK WITH ME

A smiling woman stands in front of flowering foliage. She is wearing a checkered yellow shirt and has long brown hair.

Step 1: Trust the Process

Those with ADHD brains are "all or nothing" thinkers. We want to change and we would like to by tomorrow please, because we've been waiting for a long time and we've already done a lot of work and if we don't see a reward for our efforts soon we're going to lose it.

ADHD coaching is not a magic bullet to fix your life. Nothing is! And if someone is telling you they can "fix" everything, you might be in a cult situation and I can't wait to see the Netflix Doc about it.

Coaching is a process. There are layers to your current situation, so we need to get clear on a few things, also known as:

Step 2: Clarify

1. INTENTION

Where are you headed and why? Can you even think about that right now?

2. INVENTORY

Where are you at? What's your environment like? Who is in your corner, and how are you being supported?

3. HEART

And hooooie this is a biggie. We may be clear on what you want and where you are, but we need to understand what's happening below the surface.

95% (*yells* NINETY-FIVE PERCENT) of our patterns are subconscious. The kicker? The patterns that are fighting to get the most attention are our trauma adaptations (they're trying to keep us alive after all). Unfortunately for the ADHD community, if we want to complete these cycles and move on, we have to get into the... DUN DUN DUUUUUUUN...

...You guessed it, the dreaded body.

ADHDers HATE to be in their body. We live from the shoulders up, thank you very much. Being on our bodies can be painful, and we will often go to astounding lengths (disassociating, distracting, and creating external chaos so we're not resourced enough to "go there") to avoid going to the place where we will FEEL

Luckily for you, we will go there safely, slowly, and with your consent! We need to gently see what your body is telling you, so you can tell it that it is safe. You are safe. And you can stop holding on so tight to these patterns that are no longer serving you. And bing bang boom, magic bullet.

Step 3: The Practice

(Eulgh yuck I can't believe I even said that, but alas). Your awakenings, insights, and strategies need to be tested. Tried on. Given some walking around money to hit the town to see what works for you.

The practice is learning to trust that you are the greatest authority in your life.

You know what you need, what works for you, what you want, and where your interests lie. Your parents, your teachers, bosses, partners, society, and endless Instagram reels don't get to tell you how to live your life anymore.

Step 4: Celebrate

Throw yourself a neurodivergent coming-out party! Or celebrate your commitment to yourself, your future, and your relationships any way you please. ADHDers have a hard time recognizing the good, and you deserve to acknowledge your wins.

HOW LONG ARE COACHING SESSIONS?

That depends on you! Generally an hour, but some people prefer 30 minutes or less to avoid overwhelm.

What is Body Doubling?

Body Doubling is an ADHD "Hack" that is exactly as it sounds. Sitting (virtually) with others while you work on your own stuff, and they work on theirs. Don't knock it until you've tried it!
